![]() The Missing computer game is based on the true story of a thirteen-year old boy who was lured from home by an adult he met over the Internet. Unfortunately this is not an isolated story. A study conducted in 2000 by researchers from the University of New Hampshire indicates that 1 in 5 children has been solicited for sex on-line, and one in 33 has been approached aggressively. Statistics provided by the FBI point to a sharp rise in the number of incidents that are reported to law enforcement agencies. In 1995, 113 cases were reported. Four years later, the annual number of new reports had grown to almost 1,500. The Missing Kit lets children take the
role of a police officer and search for a missing child. In this
way, children learn to recognize the tactics that a predator
uses to lure a child and come to appreciate that they must remain
vigilant to keep themselves safe. ![]() |
