AWARDS FOR MISSING

ComputerWorld Smithsonian Award

In April, 2000, Missing was nominated by the Symantec Corporation for a ComputerWorld Smithsonian Laureate Award in Education & Academia.

"Each year the ComputerWorld Honors Program brings together a new group of ComputerWorld Honors Laureates -- an extraordinary selection of people who are leading one of the most important worldwide revolutions in history."

"The work of these Laureates has been nominated for inclusion in the international archives of the history of information technology. Their achievements have been deemed exemplary, and their stories have been selected to provide an invaluable resource for future generations throughout the world. Their stories will serve both those who are now seeking to emulate their achievements and future generations who will seek to understand the technology revolution of which the laureates' work is a part".

CANARIE IWAY Award

On the same day in April, the Missing project won the CANARIE Information Highway Award, which honors individuals or groups that have made contributions to Canada's information society.

"The CANARIE IWAY Awards stand out because they focus on innovative advancements in Internet technology that will provide cultural, social and economic benefits to all Canadians, not just a particular company's bottom line. The Awards support "frontier" technology."

"CANARIE IWAY Award winners are nominated by their peers and selected by a distinguished panel of high technology and advanced Internet professionals from across Canada."
